Born and raised in Costa Rica, Milena Salazar moved to Canada to pursue an education and career in documentary filmmaking. Her first film, Mars Barb, premiered at the 2015 DOXA Documentary Film Festival and was presented in festivals across North America, including the 2015 Air Canada enRoute Film Festival. She is currently developing new projects in Vancouver, BC and her hometown of San José, Costa Rica.
Milena is a 2016 Hot Docs documentary Channel Doc Accelerator fellow.
